General Bits and Pieces

There was a proposed a change to the scoring system. It was agreed this would be tried for the forthcoming season and reviewed before continuing with further seasons. The details are shown below:

Format to be kept as is; 6 singles, 3 pairs, 2 three’s but the captains leg of 1 game of 501 now counts to the match score. This lends to the possibility of a match resulting in a draw (6-6). So the points system changes;

  • 4 points for a win
  • 2 points for a draw
  • 1 point for a loss

There will still be a separate Captains league and the old match points will be used, like in football as a sort of goal difference (eg legs for and against).

So as an example Team A plays Team B and wins 8-4, Team A score 4 points for the win and gains 8 legs for and 4 legs against, giving a legs difference of +4. This will be used in the case of a points tie at the end of the season. Team B will score 1 point for the loss and a legs difference of -4.

Hope this all makes sense, any problems give me a call.

There are a couple of new additional rules, these are in effect as of 16th January 2012. They are as follows:

  • Rule 2f.
    Both Captains must agree to any changes to the draw made at any point during a league match, this is before making any amendments to the score sheet. If either captain disagrees then no change to the original draw can be made.
  • Rule 2g.
    When doing the draw, If a team has five players then the opposing team with 6 players must put their cards down first before the five man team lay down their cards.

Please remember if you have any news or events you want mentioning on the side, just email it over. I have new contact numbers which can be found on the Contact Us page.
